From very humble beginnings to, well, a pretty humble existence still now... Cranesbill Nursery has nevertheless been trading for 40 years this year.
Slight confession, the featured picture you probably just clicked on is from my 40th birthday which was last year!
Any road up, here's a cartoon version of me, pondering what this all means...
Started by a lovely lady called Jan Bates from where she still lives now at White Cottage in Redditch, Worcestershire, Cranesbill Nursery has been the leading specialist in Hardy Geraniums since 1984.
The nursery was sold to businessman John Dilks in 2012 and then again onto myself in 2016 and I'm still rockin' and rollin' with it. Trying to gather a bigger following year after year and I seem to have succeeded so far, growing our contact list by around 225% in 8 years. But we also rely on you to spread the word and we're super grateful when you do.
New people find us every year and I look forward to welcoming more in 2024. Hardy Geraniums are such and endlessly useful plant and what I say to people all the time is that you can find one for pretty much any part of the garden, from dry sun to dry shade, damp sun to damp shade, from 6 inches in height up to four feet and all sorts of colours from white to blue to purple to pink and many shades of mauve and cerise. There are large flowered ones, small flowered, double flowered, variegated, green foliage, purple foliage and the vast majority of them are perfect for encouraging pollinators to the garden - what's not to love!
