Orders may be placed on this website, by telephone, by email or via the order form in the catalogue. Website order payments are processed via PayPal and you do not need a PayPal account to place your order. Telephone payments are processed via Worldpay. We can provide bank details if you prefer to order by email, and you may be pleased to hear we still accept cheques, should you wish to post your order.

What to expect

The vast majority of our plants are grown in 1.5 litre pots, which we have found are the perfect size for mail order. As we are aiming to be as green as possible, we remove and re-use all our plant pots, and the root balls are wrapped and packed in with shredded paper and hay to protect them during transit. We use double-wall boxes and the outside of the boxes are labelled to say they contain live plants, as well as being labelled Fragile and with ‘This way up’ stickers.

All our plants are sent with name labels that you can stick into the ground next to the plant.

Potential changes to your order

If for some reason a plant you have ordered in 1.5 litre is not available in that size, we will send you the smaller size and you will be refunded the difference. The smallest size we dispatch is a 9cm pot which is fine to be planted straight out into your garden. Some of the small cinereum species are grown in 1 litre pots due to their natural size and sometimes we do grow certain varieties in large 2 litre pots, however you will only ever be charged the 1.5 litre price.

If a plant you have ordered has sold out or become unavailable before we had chance to update the website, we will provide the closest substitute available, unless you request otherwise at the payment stage. If we cannot find a substitute remotely similar to what you have ordered, we will try to contact you or issue a refund on that particular item after dispatch.

At various points during the season on most varieties of herbaceous, we may cut back your plants before sending them. This may be because the plant has just finished its ‘first flush’ or because the stems are too cumbersome to pack properly. This does not hurt the plant and in fact reduces the stress on it, plus once planted it will reward you with fresh new foliage and soon, a second flush of flowers.

Order delivery

As a general guide, orders for pot-grown plants placed in January, February and March will be dispatched throughout May. Orders placed in April, May and June will be dispatched throughout June; thereafter, all orders will be dispatched within 7 days of your order. We will of course dispatch sooner if at all possible, however please note that the weather does dictate dispatch times earlier on in the year. We advise ordering early to avoid long waits and any disappointment regarding availability.

If you require a more specific delivery date for your order, you are welcome to get in touch, however we would ask you to bear in mind that when several hundred people do this, it only delays the order dispatch process further. We are a small nursery and unfortunately have limited time & resources. That said, if you are going to be away during the time when your order may potentially be delivered, we would urge you to notify us so we can avoid dispatching your order at the wrong time.

Our bare-root Geraniums are available to order from January 1st to February 28th every year. We dispatch these from mid-February through to mid-March. Bare-rooted plants are sent second class by royal mail whilst dormant, wrapped and packed with plenty of padding to keep them fresh and protected during transit.

All pot-grown plant orders are sent by next day delivery. If you have ordered online you will receive an email from us the day before to say they have been dispatched. If you provide a mobile number at the point of order, you will receive a text from our courier company giving you a time slot to expect delivery of your order.

By placing your order, you are accepting responsibility to take delivery of that order. Please leave us a note through the website if you have any specific delivery instructions e.g. ‘leave in porch if out’, however please note that we cannot accept any responsibility for parcels left in safe places or with neighbours. It is our responsibility however, to ensure the parcel reaches you in good condition under U.K. distance selling regulations, so if there are any issues with your order or you have not received it within 48 hours of dispatch, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible and certainly within 14 days so that we can rectify any problems.

Refunds, cancellations, returns and exchanges

If we cannot provide a plant or a suitable substitute for a plant you have ordered, we will send you a refund on that particular item within 14 days of your order being sent.

If a plant you ordered has perished, we would ask that you get in touch with us as soon as possible regarding this to discuss the circumstances. Usually we will provide a refund or replacement in such situations, however we prefer to judge each instance separately.

If you have changed your mind about an order you have placed, please be aware that we do not offer refunds in these circumstances as we are not obliged to. Instead, you will be provided with a credit note by email or post, to the value of your original order, which has no expiry date and can be re-spent at any time. Please also note that if you cancel an order early in the season and a credit note is issued, you will lose your place in the queue and you will begin again when you re-confirm your order.

If you have already received your order and changed your mind, you will be expected to return it in re-saleable condition at your own expense to enable us to provide you with a partial refund of your order subtotal. Please note we will not be able to refund any original cost of carriage and £5 from your order subtotal will be kept as a re-stocking fee. You are also entitled to a credit note in such a situation and if you request this option, the re-stocking fee will be waivered.

You are more than welcome to change your mind after you have ordered if you wish to still receive the order. So long as the different item you want is available, we will amend the order.

If you have already received your order and wish to exchange an item, you will be expected to return it in re-saleable condition at your own expense and pay a second delivery charge for the different item to be sent.

We can dispatch plants anywhere in the U.K. and E.U. If you live outside the E.U., I’m afraid we cannot deliver to you at the moment.
